Two Women Attacked — Two Cities in Crisis
Two tragedies. Two cities. One failure of public safety.
➡️ In Charlotte, NC, Iryna Zarutska fled war in Ukraine only to be fatally stabbed while looking at her phone on a light rail train. Mayor Vi Lyles suggested that sharing the video of the attack is “disrespectful.” But the bigger question remains: where is the safety for everyday residents?
➡️ In Chicago, Kathleen Miles, a hardworking mother, was randomly attacked and beaten by a career criminal with at least 12 prior arrests. She suffered broken bones, a concussion, and a black eye. Shockingly, the story is only now gaining media coverage.
These are not isolated incidents. They reveal a dangerous reality: repeat offenders continue to walk free while innocent lives are shattered. At what point will leaders put public safety above politics?
